Paradise in Palm Print

IMG_4607IMG_4600purseIMG_4611IMG_4621IMG_4593

What I wouldn’t give to spend every day in this type of paradise! The truth is, I live here, but rarely get time to come down to the beach. I was SO excited to spend some time here this weekend! And in my new to-die-for palm print swimsuit! I wore it here as a top…love that it does double duty! And the best part gals…it’s only $24!!

My shorts are very flattering (sometimes it’s hard to find high-waisted bottoms that are flattering!) from Lulu’s. My woven bag is also from Lulus and is a MUST HAVE trend for the spring/summer! Only $64! My slides I got from Forever 21 last year but am linking similar ones. My hat is by J Crew from two seasons ago, but linking similar ones. My earrings are by Marlyn Schiff. My necklace is my every day go-to by Sonya Renee.

XOXO,

Well…a lot has changed over the last 9 months! My husband and I are expecting our first baby boy this July. We couldn’t be more excited or nervous.

Between being pregnant, moving, and running a retail store, I haven’t had much time to put into my blog. I had hopes of capturing some fabulous styled maternity looks, but it seems like life just got so busy in between! So, I’ve decided to share with you my maternity photo shoot which was such a special time for my growing family.

My photographer, Kristin Potenti of KP Studios, really nailed exactly what I was looking for in the shoot. I wanted to do a few different looks, and for some reason, had my heart set on a whimsical/boho/romantic vibe with none other than a gorgeous horse. Horse and flower crown? Right up my alley!

I LOVE DIY projects (when I have the time) and decided to take a shot at making my own floral crown. Let’s just say, 3 hours, 2 re-dos, 10 you-tube videos later and tons of glue gun shreds, I had my masterpiece. I will need to perfect my craft before I turn selling floral crowns into my next business 😉

The first few photos we shot were at my home. I wanted something really special for my husband and myself. I was a little nervous about posting my bare belly, but people post bikini selfies all the time, so why not? The pregnant belly is beautiful and shows the little miracle that is growing inside.

I loved Rach Parcell of Pink and Peonies beautiful pink rose kimono/robe, and actually found a similar one at Forever 21. I paired it with a Coobie Bra (super comfy, one-size fits all) which you can find on Amazon.

My puppy was excited to be a part of the shoot- he is excited to be a big brother!

The next outfit I chose was a gorgeous crochet caftan by Jen’s Pirate Booty. You can purchase the caftan here from LaLa Couture Boutique (call to order). I love the way my photographer edited these photos. It was really a special moment for my husband and me.

The final shots were taken at Robbins Park in Davie, FL. We rented the most beautiful horse, Ellie, for the shoot. It was actually really funny- Ellie was way more into eating grass and sneezing than having her photo taken. Every time I would pull her up from trying to the eat the grass, my dress would fall down! I don’t know how in the world my photographer got such amazing photos! It was pretty amusing! Wardrobe stylist Britta Foreman was there to help me fix my dress every time (thank goodness!).

Speaking of the dress…I found this beauty on Etsy from The Citrus Branch. It was perfect for the shoot because you could let it be open in the front, or keep it closed.

I had a wonderful time shooting these maternity photos, and I hope you enjoyed as well! I linked all of the looks to where you can purchase above.

A big thank you to the following for helping make the maternity shoot a huge success:

Because I’m Happy

248-lala_styled_11-13-14

There is something about this time of year that brings a smile to my face; the smell of fresh balsam that fills the air, the jingly Christmas music playing in the background, and the smiles of friends and families as they reunite for the holidays. Of course, the cooler temperatures are a huge plus for this Florida gal; I finally get to wear fall fashions! It is the most wonderful time of the year. And that makes me happy.

263-lala_styled_11-13-14

Comfy sweaters and plaid are a mainstay in my closet for when that first cold front moves through. How cute is this sweater by Sundry? The Sundry clothing line has a California-cool vibe with soft, wearable, snuggle-worthy fabric. It’s enough to make you happy.

256-lala_styled_11-13-14 268-lala_styled_11-13-14

I paired it with my go-to plaid shirt line: Rails LA. Who knew a plaid shirt could be so soft and so uber-cool?! I have at least 5 plaid tops by Rails, and I get compliments on them everywhere I go. The added bonus is the comfort factor. The tops are so soft you’ll want to live in them.  This particular style has a different print when you roll the sleeves…LOVE!

267-lala_styled_11-13-14

And speaking of comfort, if you haven’t tried on a pair of DL1961 denim, you are missing out. With it’s patented technology to “never bag or sag,” these jeans are a MUST in every woman’s closet. They’re comfy like leggings and they won’t stretch out (we’ve all had that happen- it looks like you could fit an extra person in your denim by the end of the day). Here, I’m wearing the Emma style which has a 29″ inseam (perfect for us shorter gals or anyone who wants a shorter fit).

The comfort doesn’t end at the denim. I pulled my “few-seasons-back” riding boots by Nine West and the leather was so soft…talk about comfy! To me, this was the perfect pairing for this preppy fall look.

Wishing everyone a HAPPY and fashionable holiday season!

Mexico, I Love You

DSC_0308DSC_0224

Traveling: my second love. My husband and I have been lucky enough to do a lot of traveling over the years, and one of our favorite destinations is Mexico. We have seen and explored many parts of this beautiful country; from Mexico City to La Paz to our latest vacation destination: Puerto Vallarta.

DSC_0417

Despite the 90 degree weather and ultra intense humidity (that’s saying a lot from this Florida gal), we were able to enjoy all that this coastal town had to offer. We wandered through Zona Romantica (the Romantic Zone) and the Malecón where the streets were filled with the aroma of Mexican spices and local vendors setting up their shops. I got a lot of looks and compliments on my sandals 🙂

Stopping for a refreshing Michelada (beer and lime juice with spices), we realized that we were some of the only Americans in town. Puerto Vallarta is where the Mexican people  come to vacation.

My husband and I have never been “resort” type of people…always choosing to stay more in more rustic places. Don’t get me wrong, I love a 5-star hotel, but when we have the chance, we prefer to be a little bit more off-the-beaten-path. A bit more authentic 🙂

We stayed in a beautiful Villa, and score…it was very inexpensive and we had a wonderful local woman cook for us. Waking up every morning to freshly made chilaquiles and guacamole could make a girl stay here forever. By far my favorite part of the villa was the pool and the view overlooking the Bay of Banderas. It was breathtaking to say the least.

I enjoyed putting outfits together for this trip; there were a few things I wanted to wear but couldn’t due to the extremely hot temperatures.

All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay in Puerto Vallarta. Hasta la próxima, México!

Faux Fur Fix

DSC_0155

Faux fur…I own way too many pieces of it for a Florida girl. Coats, vests, stoles…you name it…I’ve got it. You could call it a borderline obsession. People up North might poke a little fun at us Southerners; we wear our faux fur when the mercury drops below 70.

No brand makes tops quite like Rails LA. Known for their soft, comfortable fabric, Rails really hits the mark on the classic button-down. I love the print mixing on the rolled cuff of the sleeve. I chose a cranberry colored plaid for this outfit; I love anything burgundy for fall!

DSC_0131

Leather pants are a huge trend this season, but if you can’t afford leather, opt for a coated denim. It’s a similar style with an easier price point. These amazing stiletto skinnies are by Current/Elliott. Trend alert: look for a pair that has zip detail on the bottom.

DSC_0129

To complete the look, I added a neutral Rebecca Minkoff bag (my absolute FAVORITE bag of the moment), navy panama hat, stiletto heels, Chloe sunnies and a gorgeous Ted Rossi cuff.
